Webb House Concerts MySpace

Just an update, we've discontinued Webb House Concerts myspace page, old and behind the times, and not keeping up with the landscape there just made it sad and shabby. You can find the same information, right here: Webb House Concerts on Facebook!

Videos from our shows and other miscellaneous subjects are on our YouTube Channel.

Discontinuing the myspace page hopefully will mean more blogs here on our shows, and other local events around town concerning our local and not so local musician buddies....

The fall, Texas heat or not...will be moving forward....Sept 10th our buddies Greg Whitfield and Taylor Pie will be at the Bugle Boy in La Grange!! This will "one of those shows"...two amazing talents swapping songs...hope to see a sold out house to start off Pie's Texas tour!

Webb House Concerts schedule:
Sept 25: George Ensle, Bob Cheevers
Sept 30-Oct 3 SWRFA, Showcase Room w/ Puff Bunny Records
Oct 23: Bob Livingston

South West Regional Folk Alliance Showcase room with Puff Bunny Records!!!

James Lee Stanley and Donna Frost Sept 26, 2010

I always listen to my supporters and my performers when it comes to choices for our stage here at Webb House Concerts. Donna Frost told me that "there is nothing that James Lee can't do with that guitar and his voice" and she was right. He is charming, gracious and oh so talented...bringing a special something to his performance that appealed to every member of that audience. Several "first timers" to house concerts are now total fans of both James Lee Stanley and the concept of house concerts after just this one show.
Evidence of his talent and the esteem in which his peers in our Austin music community hold him...an amazing song circle followed the show, several of our great local Austin musicians, Donna Frost's crew from Nashville...there to pick with James Lee Stanley...a true symphony of acoustic guitars! One of those moments when you find you're holding your breath, just so you don't break into perfection.
As a houseguest, he cooks, he cleans, he shares his expertise on puzzles and the dog adored him...what more could you want? Extraordinary talent, a great artist of his crafts, and always welcome at Webb House Concerts.

Donna Frost is always at the top of her game, this show just a little (ha!) awe struck at being on the same stage, in my backyard as it were..., with James Lee Stanley. Her mentor, and hero when it comes to performing around the country as a touring musician. James Allen , her guitar slinger buddy from Nashville, came to Austin for the show this time...and joined the song circle as well. I loved hearing from him about the unselfish talent in that song circle, and how much it impressed him to hear musicians at that level just hand off licks and lyrics without showcasing themselves...sharing the music.

Many thanks to James Lee Stanley and Donna Frost for setting the bar for a great fall of music in Austin, Texas at Webb House Concerts! We continued the next weekend at SWRFA, sharing a showcase room with Puff Bunny Records and Taylor Pie...and then the Austin Acoustical Cafe appearance of Taylor Pie, with our Austin favorites, Dan Hardick and Suzee Brooks opening the show..wow!

JAMES LEE STANLEY:

"It is simple, really. With James Lee you get great songs, great guitar playing, great voice and a gifted comedian as well. You are in for a very entertaining evening." Village Voice

JAMES LEE STANLEY is an American singer, musician, songwriter, and actor (who was a regular extra on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager for five years!!)

It is only a long lived singer-songwriter career that lets JAMES LEE STANLEY unite the unpredictable creative turns and the eclectic elements that make up his world. His remarkable ability as a vocalist and composer allow him to create songs, each recorded with a finely crafted with guitar orchestrations that enhance the lyric. But a whole new dimension is added when James Lee performs live. These incredible songs, coupled with his outrageously hilarious repartee, make for an evening of hilarity and tenderness and one of the most entertaining concerts on the circuit.

And as DONNA FROST says…”there’s nothing this man can’t do with his voice and his guitar”. She also calls this opportunity to perform this show with James Lee “a dream come true!”

DONNA FROST:

DONNA FROST was our very first guest on stage at Webb House Concerts, and we love to welcome her back and give her that dream come true! This year she brings JEFF ALLEN, her side kick guitar player from Nashville, and we are really looking forward to hearing what he brings to her show!

DONNA FROST has received ASCAPlus awards for her work as a performing singer/songwriter for 4 consecutive years (2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008). She was a 2004 Kerrville New Folk Finalist and performed at the 2004 New Folk Concert, Kerrville Folk Festival. Donna is an actress as well and starred as Janis Joplin in the musical “Kozmic Blue” for 3 years in Nashville. She also contributed to Marley Brant’s book, “Tales from the Rock and Roll Highway” as well as a new book coming soon by Rev. Keith A. Gordon called “The Other Side of Nashville.” Donna has worked numerous sessions as a demo singer & background vocalist. She also writes & records for “Songs of Love” (songs are created for & given to children with life threatening illnesses-www.songsoflove.org)

Donna performed with longtime friend and idol, the late Skeeter Davis on tour and at the Grand Ole Opry from 1996-2002, and she continues to support the memory and work of Skeeter Davis. (just ask, she’ll do a request!!)
